Hake with White Sauce

This recipe is very simple and quick and can be made with other fish to taste.
If preferred, you can substitute coriander (cilantro) with parsley.

Ingredients

• 4 pieces of hake
• 100 ml of olive oil (approx. 3.4 fl oz)
• 1 onion, chopped
• 2 garlic cloves, chopped
• 1 bay leaf
• 150 ml of white wine (approx. 5 fl oz)
• 250 ml of milk (approx. 1 cup)
• 1 teaspoon of cornstarch
• Lemon to taste
• A bunch of chopped coriander (cilantro)
• Salt to taste
• Pepper to taste

Instructions

   Season the hake pieces on both sides with salt, pepper, and lemon juice.

   In a wide pot, heat the olive oil, onion, garlic, and bay leaf over medium heat.
   Stir and let it sauté.

   Meanwhile, dissolve the cornstarch in a little milk.

   To the sautéed mix, add the white wine, milk, hake pieces, and the marinade.
   Cover and let it cook for 5 minutes.

   Flip the pieces and let them cook for another 5 minutes.
   Once the fish is cooked, remove it to a platter.

   Remove the bay leaf from the sauce.
   Add the dissolved cornstarch to the sauce.
   Stir and add the chopped coriander (cilantro).

   Season with lemon juice and pepper.
   Stir and, as soon as it starts to boil, turn off the heat.

   Drizzle the fish with the sauce and serve accompanied by boiled potatoes or mashed potatoes.
