Meat Pastries

These meat pastries are perfect for parties and gatherings with friends or family. If you want, you can freeze them before baking. You can also make large pastries with a square of dough for each one, folded in the shape of a napkin or book.

Ingredients

• 1 heaping tablespoon of butter
• ½ chopped onion
• 2 cloves of chopped garlic
• 1 bay leaf
• 60 g (2.1 oz) of chopped bacon
• 60 g (2.1 oz) of chopped meat chorizo
• 50 g (1.76 oz) of minced beef
• Salt
• 5-pepper blend
• Chopped parsley
• 2 heaping tablespoons of T55 wheat flour without baking powder
• 400 g (0.88 lbs) of puff pastry squares or rectangle-shaped puff pastry
• 1 beaten egg for brushing

Instructions

   In a frying pan, heat the butter, onion, garlic, and bay leaf.
   Stir and cook for about 2 minutes until it starts to brown.

   After that, add the meat chorizo and bacon.
   Sauté a bit.
   Add the minced meat and mix well while cooking to keep it loose.
   Meanwhile, season with a little salt and the 5-pepper blend.
   Add the parsley.

   Once the meat has browned and is well sautéed, add the flour.
   Mix well until the flour is fully incorporated and remove from heat.
   Allow the meat to cool completely.

   Place a small amount of meat in the center of the puff pastry to form a roll.
   Roll the puff pastry over the meat to create a roll.
   Brush the roll with the beaten egg.

   Cut the roll into thick slices and place them on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
   Repeat the process until all ingredients are used up.

   Bake in a preheated oven at 180 ºC (356 ºF) for 15 to 20 minutes until the pastry turns golden.
   If desired, you can freeze these pastries before baking.
   Once the pastries are cooked, remove them from the oven and serve.
