Gratinated Mussels with Mustard and Lemon

This mussels recipe is ideal as a starter for Christmas or New Year's Eve.
It's very tasty and has two distinct parts: the succulent mussel meat and the crunchy crust made from the bread and cheese mixture.
You can serve it as an appetizer or a snack, but it can also be served as a main course accompanied by spaghetti sautéed with olive oil, garlic, and parsley.Enjoy your meal!

Ingredients

• 1 kg (2.2 lbs) of half-shell thawed mussels
• 120 g (4.2 oz) of salted butter
• ½ grated onion
• 2 cloves of garlic
• 1 teaspoon of Dijon mustard
• Juice of ½ lemon
• 1 stale roll or a mix of stale bread, finely chopped
• Chopped parsley to taste
• 70 g (2.5 oz) of freshly grated Parmesan cheese
• Fleur de sel to taste
• Pepper to taste

Instructions

   In a frying pan, melt the butter over low heat.
   Add the crushed garlic and onion.
   Heat until the onion is translucent.
   Finally, mix the mustard and lemon juice into the butter.
   Season the sauce with a few pinches of fleur de sel and pepper.

   In a bowl, mix the bread with the cheese and chopped parsley.

   Spread the mussels on a baking tray.
   Season the meat with a few pinches of fleur de sel and pepper.
   On top of each mussel, spread a teaspoon of sauce.
   Cover each mussel with the breadcrumb and cheese mixture, pressing down slightly.
   Finally, drizzle each mussel with a teaspoon of sauce.

   Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (392°F) for about 20 minutes.
   Once the mussels are golden and toasted on top, remove them from the oven.
   They are ready to serve.
