These Christmas Cookies are simple, traditional, and perfect for holiday baking. With just butter, sugar, flour, and eggs, you get a soft, rich dough that’s easy to work with and ideal for cutting into festive shapes. After baking, the cookies are dipped in a smooth chocolate-and-butter glaze that adds shine and a delicious layer of flavor.
This recipe yields about 110 cookies, making it perfect for sharing at gatherings or gifting during the holiday season.

Ingredients

• 250 g (9 oz) melted butter (dough)
• 250 g (1 lb 2 oz) sugar (dough)
• 600 g (1 lb 5 oz) all-purpose flour (dough)
• 3 eggs (dough)
• Flour for dusting (dough)
• 200 g (7 oz) cooking chocolate (topping)
• 80 g (3 oz) butter (topping)

   Prepare the dough: In a bowl, mix the sugar with the melted butter until you get a pale, creamy mixture.
   Gradually add the flour and eggs, alternating between them, and knead until you get a smooth dough.

   Roll and cut: Dust the countertop with flour and place the dough on it.
   Sprinkle a little more flour over the dough and roll it out with a rolling pin.
   Cut the dough into shapes using cookie cutters or a glass.
   Carefully arrange the cookies on a baking tray greased with butter and dusted with flour.

   Bake: Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (392°F) for 10–12 minutes, or until lightly golden.
   Remove from the oven and leave to cool completely.

   Prepare the chocolate glaze: Melt the chocolate and butter together over a bain-marie.
   Stir until smooth and well combined.

   Finish the cookies: Once the cookies are cool, dip them into the warm chocolate glaze.
   Place them on a tray or plate and let the chocolate set until firm.
   After the glaze hardens, the cookies are ready to serve.
